About This Tour

The sound at Silver Waterfall hits you before you see it — a low roar that gets louder as you climb the stone steps, then suddenly you are standing in front of 200 meters of white water dropping off the cliff face above Tram Ton pass. This is at 1,800 meters elevation. The mist blows cold even in August. Most visitors spend 20 minutes here and leave. We stay long enough for it to settle in.

From Silver Waterfall, we drive up through Heaven Gate — the highest mountain pass on the Hanoi–Lao Cai road — and then down into the pine forest to Love Waterfall. The trail to Love Waterfall runs about 1 km through forest that smells of resin and damp earth, and the waterfall itself drops roughly 100 meters into a pool you can approach closely. This area sits in Black H'mong and Red Dao territory, along the O Quy Ho ridge. Then the day takes a turn most visitors don't expect: we drive 34 km into Lai Chau province to reach Tac Tinh Waterfall in Tam Duong district — 120 meters high, 40 meters wide at the base, and almost never crowded because it takes the extra driving to get there.

Lunch is in Tam Duong, and we're back in Sapa by 4:30–5:00 PM. Our guide Tzu Hang was born in the area and has been to Tac Tinh more times than he can count; he knows which viewpoint angle photographs best depending on the season. If you have questions about fitness or altitude sensitivity before booking, message us on WhatsApp — we'll answer honestly. Trekking Tour Sapa holds a Vietnam National Tourism Authority operator license (No. 10-078/2023).

Full Day Itinerary

Route: Sapa Town → Silver Waterfall → Heaven Gate → Love Waterfall → Tam Duong (Lunch) → Tac Tinh Waterfall → Sapa  |  Car transport · short walks at each site

08:30 AM
Hotel Pickup — Sapa Town
We pick you up from your hotel anywhere in Sapa Town — or meet us at the Trekking Tour Sapa Office, 105 Thach Son Street. Early start is needed because Tac Tinh Waterfall is 34 km past Sapa, and we want full time at all three sites without rushing.
09:30 AM
Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac) — Tram Ton Pass
The car climbs Tram Ton, the highest mountain pass on the Hanoi–Lao Cai road. Silver Waterfall drops over 200 meters off the cliff face above you at 1,800 meters elevation. A short staircase leads up to the viewpoint platform. The mist comes cold off the water even in summer. Take your time here — the sound and scale of it don't photograph easily and need to be experienced up close.
10:15 AM
Heaven Gate — O Quy Ho Mountain Pass Viewpoint
A short drive brings us to Heaven Gate, the peak of the pass with panoramic views down into both Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces. On a clear morning the Hoang Lien Son range fills the horizon. On misty days the valleys below disappear into white. Either version is worth stopping for.
10:40 AM
Love Waterfall (Thac Tinh Yeu) — O Quy Ho Pine Forest
We drive a short distance into the O Quy Ho forest and walk about 1 km along a forested trail to Love Waterfall — roughly 100 meters high and set deep in pine and fern. The trail smells of resin. This is Black H'mong and Red Dao territory along the ridge. The waterfall is fed by streams off the Hoang Lien Son range and flows strongly year-round. We spend about 45 minutes here.
12:30 PM
Lunch — Tam Duong District, Lai Chau
We cross the provincial border into Lai Chau and stop in Tam Duong for lunch. This is a working town, not a tourist area — the food is simple, local, and good. A chance to rest before the afternoon waterfall.
01:20 PM
Tac Tinh Waterfall — Tam Duong, Lai Chau
About 10–15 minutes of walking from the parking area brings you to Tac Tinh Waterfall — 120 meters high and 40 meters wide at the base. The scale is different from what you saw at Silver Waterfall — this one spreads wide across the rock face rather than dropping in a single cascade. Almost no organized tours bring visitors here, which means you'll have it largely to yourselves. The Dao people live in villages on the slopes above.
03:00 – 05:00 PM
Return to Sapa Town
We drive back across the pass and return you to your hotel or our office. The drive takes about 1.5–2 hours depending on traffic at Tram Ton.
Most of the day is spent in the car between sites — the walking at each waterfall is short (5–15 minutes each way). This is a Moderate rating due to the altitude at Silver Waterfall (1,800m) and uneven terrain on the Tac Tinh trail. If you are sensitive to altitude, message us before booking.

How It Works

1
Book & confirm — Pay online or message us on WhatsApp. We confirm your booking within 2 hours — you'll receive all the details you need: date, time, pickup point, and what to bring.
2
We pick you up — Your guide arrives at your hotel at 8:30 AM. Groups are max 12 people — usually 4–8 on most days. The car drives you between all three waterfall sites so you can focus on the experience, not the logistics.
3
Three waterfalls, one day — Silver Waterfall, Love Waterfall, and Tac Tinh Waterfall. Each one is different in character — you'll understand why after you've seen all three.
4
Back by 4:30–5:00 PM — Time to rest before dinner. If you're taking an overnight bus to Hanoi, you'll have plenty of time to freshen up first.
Best for: photographers, nature lovers, couples, and anyone wanting to see Sapa's most spectacular scenery without a strenuous all-day hike.
1
Book your group — Tell us your group size. Larger groups pay less per person — 4 people at $54/person is a popular private option for families. The car is yours for the full day.
2
Dedicated guide, your pace — No strangers. Your guide focuses entirely on your group. Stop longer at photos, skip sections you don't want, adjust the route.
3
Flexible timing — Want an earlier start? A different lunch spot? We can customize the day around your schedule and preferences.
4
Private transport throughout — Your own vehicle picks up and drops off. No sharing with other groups at any point.
Best for: couples wanting the guide entirely to themselves, photography groups who want to spend more time at each waterfall, or families with young children who need a flexible timeline.

What to Bring

Most of the day is spent in the car — the walks at each waterfall are short. But Silver Waterfall is at 1,800 meters and can be cold, and the paths near Tac Tinh have uneven rock. Pack accordingly:

Comfortable walking shoes or light hiking shoes Waterproof jacket (essential — waterfall spray is real) Warm layer (Silver Waterfall is cold even in summer) Winter jacket (December–February — 6–8°C at 1,800m) Sunscreen and sunglasses Small daypack Camera or fully charged phone Cash (Vietnamese Dong — for entrance fees and extras)

A rain jacket is not optional on this tour — even on a sunny day, standing near Silver Waterfall will soak your front. Bring one or buy a cheap poncho in Sapa before we leave.

At Our Office — Before & After Your Trek

Our office in Sapa Town is your base. Drop in before the trek or use our facilities when you return.

Leave your big bags with us while you trek. Safe, locked, no charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Moderate fitness is needed. Most of the day is in the car between waterfalls — the walks at each site are short (5–15 minutes each way). But Silver Waterfall involves stairs up to a viewpoint at 1,800 meters elevation, which can affect people sensitive to altitude. The Tac Tinh trail has some uneven rock. If you have a heart condition or serious altitude sensitivity, message us on WhatsApp before booking and we'll advise you honestly.

Included: English-speaking local guide for the full day, comfortable car transport between all three waterfalls and Heaven Gate, waterfall entrance fees, lunch in Tam Duong district, and a large water bottle per person.
Not included: personal travel insurance, extra drinks, tips for the guide, and Hanoi–Sapa transport (available as an add-on).

The tour visits Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac) — over 200m high at 1,800m elevation near Tram Ton pass; Love Waterfall (Thac Tinh Yeu) — about 100m high, reached via a 1 km forest trail in O Quy Ho pine forest; and Tac Tinh Waterfall in Tam Duong district, Lai Chau — 120m high, 40m wide, rarely visited by organized tours. Heaven Gate viewpoint at the mountain pass is also included.

We pick you up from your hotel anywhere in Sapa Town at 8:30 AM — or you can meet us at the Trekking Tour Sapa Office, 105 Thach Son Street. The 8:30 start is needed because Tac Tinh Waterfall is 34 km from Sapa and we want proper time at each site without rushing. We return to Sapa by 4:30–5:00 PM.

The waterfalls are most powerful during and just after rainy season — July through September. Silver Waterfall becomes a full-force cascade after heavy rain. Love Waterfall stays strong year-round due to forest catchment. The dry season (November–April) offers clearer skies for photography but lower water volume. We run this tour year-round — both seasons have their own character.

Yes. Private tours are available from $110 for 1 person up to $360 for 10 people. A private tour gives your group the full car to yourselves, flexible timing at each site, and the option to add or skip stops. Popular for photography groups who want more time at each waterfall, and for families with young children who need flexibility. Message us on WhatsApp to discuss options before booking.

Why Trek With Us

Born in These Mountains
Our guides — Tzu Hang and Lo Hu — grew up in Black H'mong villages along the Muong Hoa Valley. They don't just know the trails; they know the families, the fields, and the stories behind every turn.
Routes the Crowds Don't Take
Because our community roots run deep, we access trails through private farmland and minority villages that mainstream operators simply cannot enter. You won't be walking the same path as 50 other tour groups.
Licensed & Fully Transparent
We hold a Vietnam National Tourism Authority operator license (10-078/2023/CDLQGVN-GP LHQT). Price shown is the price you pay — no surprise fees, no hidden commissions, no tipping pressure.
Small Groups — Real Attention
Maximum 12 people per group tour. Every private tour is one-guide, one-group. You're never lost in a crowd, never rushed. We move at your pace and stop wherever you want a photo.

"Tac Tinh was the one that got me. I'd never heard of it before this tour — Silver Waterfall is in every guidebook, but Tac Tinh is something else entirely. It's wide rather than tall and you can walk right up to the base. The drive there takes time, but it's worth every minute. One small thing: bring a proper rain jacket for Silver Waterfall — the spray soaks you from the front."

"I went in August when the waterfalls are at full power — Silver Waterfall is absolutely overwhelming from the viewpoint. The guide told us when exactly to position ourselves for the best photos at each site. Love Waterfall through the pine forest was the most atmospheric of the three. We were lucky to have a clear day at Heaven Gate and could see all the way to Lai Chau. Completely memorable."

"Came with my partner in February — dry season, so the water volume wasn't at its peak, but Love Waterfall still ran beautifully through the misty forest. The guide explained that the pine forest holds water from the Hoang Lien Son range even in the dry months, which is why this one stays full. We appreciated that he shared that kind of detail without being asked. The drive through Lai Chau was a bonus — we hadn't seen that part of Vietnam before."
