During this tour, you will be taken by our experienced local guide to the heights of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range.

You will see the change in the vegetation with the mountain’s altitude. Giant, centuries-old pine trees and expanses of yellow bamboo mark the higher reaches of our climb, and we may see mountain goats and langur monkeys along the way.

This climb is a challenge for you to break your limits. However, don’t worry. With the support of the porters, you will be guided by our dedicated guide through each specific step to conquer the roof of Indochina.

What to Expect

The peak is on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, a nature reserve. It protects the great diversity of animal and plant life, including over 100 hundred varieties of orchids that flourish in this unique ecosystem. You can see the vegetation change as you trek higher, culminating in a forest of dwarf bamboo near the top.

Itinerary

In the morning: Sapa – Tram Ton – The point 2.200 m – The point 2.800 m

At 5:30 AM: Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel or a particular point chosen by you, the tour starts by car from your hotel (Sapa) to Tram Ton pass (the location is about 2000 m above sea level). Ready to begin the climb.

6:30 AM: We will arrive at Tram Ton Pass and begin the walk to conquer the Fansipan peak.

The challenging ascent and descent will take around 7-8 hours.

On the way, you can see the vibrant mountain ecosystem, with 2,024 floral varieties and 327 faunal species, the natural landscape, and Muong Hoa valley. Forest types change with increasing altitude.

You also get to see the cardamom, a spice — the cardamom seeds of a plant that gives a particular flavor to food.

In the afternoon: Fansipan Peak 3.143m – Go down – Tram Tom – Sapa

At Noon: We will arrive at Fansipan peak, admire the beauty of nature, and enjoy a fantastic view and unique pictures on the roof of Indochina. We can celebrate the victorious achievement as we arrive at the top, 3,143m above sea level.

At 1:30 PM: Come down to 2.900m.

We went back to Tram Ton pass. When we arrive there, where our driver awaits, and we are transferred back to Sapa Town.

Things Must Know

A: Payment must be made at least ONE day before the tour commences.

B: Weather at these high altitudes is unpredictable. It might be muddy in wet weather, making the trek more complicated and taking longer to complete. You need to be of a high level of fitness to complete this climb in 1 day.

C:  When you arrive at the top, if you are too tired, on the way back, you can catch Cable Car down, but our service will NOT include this, even transport from the Cable station to your accommodation.

A Cabin Sleeper Bus/42USD/way: This is a cabin with 2 small beds that you can sleep 2 people. If you are a couple or want to make it private, this is the best choice (you can see it in the image).

The one day trip up to the summit of Mount Fansipan was well organised with a knowledgable guide and warm welcome from the office staff who gave us a good idea of what to expect

This mountain was very well done, it’s easy to access, has plenty of signs and more than one thing to see on the way up. We took the funicular and cable car up then walked the last 1km. It’s about 20-30minutes and 600 or so stairs but it’s a nice walk. We enjoyed our visit to Fansipan, even though it was cloudy at the summit, I think it added to the effect.

What a fun adventure up Fansipan! We took the train to the cable car, and then hiked to the peak. This is not a trek for the faint of heart - it's a climb - but it's worth it. That said, don't do this on a cloudy/foggy day because you won't be able to see anything. It requires a beautiful, clear day. And even on a sunny day, it gets chilly at the top!

Beautiful hike up the Fansipan. We were in moderate shape and we hadn't made it if our guide Minh wasnt there for us. He led the way, told us about the environment and arranged our lunch. He was friendly, responsible and professional. Chuong, the manager, is a really cool and savvy guy with a ton of experience in trekking the Sapa area. So, if you're feeling adventurous and want to avoid the touristy areas, go up Fansipan with Nomadtrails! Read less
