Located in Ban Cong – Tram Tau – Yen Bai, the peak of Dinh Ta Xua stands at an impressive 2865m and is one of the 15 highest mountain peaks in Vietnam. Its unique shape resembling a giant dinosaur’s back makes it unforgettable.
The trek up Ta Xua is challenging but rewards you with a pristine forest full of ancient trees covered in moss and vines. The ground is covered in soft yellow leaves, and if you’re lucky, you may see rhododendron flowers or wild forest lotus. Ta Xua is also known for its Turtle Head peak and “Dinosaur Back” ridge, offering incredible views day and night.
The feeling of reaching the peak after a long and steep climb is indescribable, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges and clouds. Ta Xua is a must-visit destination for cloud chasing and exploring the endless array of exciting experiences it has to offer.

Itinerary
Day 0: HANOI – TRAM TAU
- 18:30: A private Car will pick you up from Hanoi to Tram Tau, Yen Bai.
- 00:30: Check in at a homestay and spend the night.

Travel route: Hanoi – National Highway 32 – Nghia Lo – Tram Tau.
Transportation: High-quality shuttle bus with comfortable seats.
Day 1: TRAM TAU – TA XUA – CONQUERING THE DINOSAUR BACK
- 05:30: Wake up and pack your personal belongings.
- 06:00: Enjoy breakfast while your guide briefs you on the program and provides trip instructions.
- 07:00: Depart for the trekking point in Ban Cong forest by car.
- 07:30: Arrive at the trekking point, leave your belongings with the porter (luggage carrier).
- 11:30: Take a rest and have lunch at campsite 1.
- 13:00: Conquer Ta Xua’s dinosaur back.
- 16:30: Reach the lower campsite (campsite 2) and rest after the first day of trekking.
- 18:00: Enjoy dinner and spend the night in a windproof wooden cabin with a blanket and insulated mattress.

Day 2: TOUCHING THE SUMMIT OF TÀ XÙA
- 05:00: Wake up and enjoy breakfast with coffee or ginger tea.
- 06:00: Start the final trekking stage to touch the summit of Tà Xùa, passing through the ancient mossy forest.
- 08:30: Reach the summit of Tà Xùa.
- 09:30: Begin the descent back to the resting campsite.
- 11:30: Rest and have lunch at the overnight campsite (campsite 2), then pack up belongings and move to campsite 1.
- 16:00: Reach the lower campsite (campsite 1).
- 18:00: Enjoy dinner and spend the night in a windproof wooden cabin with a blanket and insulated mattress.

Day 3: DESCENDING THE MOUNTAIN – TRAM TAU – HANOI
- 05:30: Wake up early to catch the sunrise and have breakfast.
- 08:00: Begin the descent down the mountain.
- 12:00: Arrive at the foot of the mountain, have lunch at the porter’s house.
- 13:00: We will be back Homestay by car, pack up belongings, and prepare for a hot shower. Say goodbye to your tour guide.
- 16:00: Depart for Hanoi by private car .
- 23:00: Arrive at Hanoi (Dinner by yourself)

Things you should bring
- Raincost
- Trekking shoes (high-top ones are the best) provide a comfortable and snug fit with a good grip sole.
- Clothing for the 3-day-2-night mountain trek:
- 2 long pants (preferably quick-drying) and 1 long-sleeved shirt (preferably a thin windbreaker) to wear while trekking.
- 3-4 T-shirts
- A warm, thick jacket for the evenings in the camp.
- A super-thin wool or down jacket to wear while sleeping.
- A pair of beekeeper slippers to wear at the campsite.
- A scarf (not a woolen one) to prevent cold and easy to dry when wet.
- 3-5 pairs of long, thick socks (avoid low-cut ones).
- Personal items: mosquito repellent, sunglasses, hat, camera, underwear, and personal hygiene items.
- Heat retention patch, personal medication, and identification documents.
