Nhiu Co San, also called Sung Trau, is a natural wonder in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province. The terrain is perfect for adventurers and nature enthusiasts, but the trek to the mountain’s foot is challenging, particularly during the rainy season. The hike starts with low hills, shrubs, grasslands, and rocky cliffs, and as you ascend, the terrain transforms into a pristine forest with tall and robust trunks. The maple leaves turning red add a touch of European charm.
The Ong Chua waterfall is the ultimate symbol of Nhiu Co San, cascading down like a giant silk ribbon. During the cold and windy season, the mountain is covered in a blanket of ice, creating a surreal experience. The forest has glass-like leaves, adding an element of mystery.
Nhiu Co San is the 9th highest peak in Vietnam, offering cloud-watching experiences and a goat grazing area. The maple leaves turn yellow from November to February, and the azalea flowers bloom from February to April, making it a beautiful destination.
